Our Oakland Auto Painting and Auto Body Experts Weigh In

Reliability is the top trait that many people desire in a car. Whether you’re interested in reliability or just want to know more about durable cars, keep reading to learn about some of the most long-lasting cars on the road.

Buick Roadmaster Estate
Writing for Kiplinger, David Muhlbaum singled out the Buick Roadmaster Estate as possessing a durable build complemented by easily available replacement parts. It also sports an attractive retro look.

Buick LeSabre
Muhlbaum also praises another Buick: the LeSabre, which has won many awards recognizing its reliability.

Honda Accord
Honda Accords are a common sight on the road because they are best-selling cars that run for a very long time. These vehicles may need Piedmont auto painting long before their engines wear out.

Subaru Legacy
In a slideshow, the Los Angeles Times recently highlighted the Subaru Legacy as a particularly long-lasting car. According to the slideshow, the Legacy ranked behind only the Accord in one measure of durability: the percentage of cars that have hit 200,000 miles.

Honda Odyssey
If you want to tap into Honda reliability but need more space, the LA Times slideshow also highlights the Honda Odyssey minivan as a particularly durable offering.

Volkswagen Van
Another vehicle praised by Muhlbaum for its longevity is the Volkswagen van. The originals appeared in 1950. Many of these are still on the road is a testament to their long-lasting nature, and some are serious money collectors.

Toyota Camry
Though it had been in production for many years previously, 1992 saw the Toyota Camry take off, according to Muhlbaum. That generation of Camry routinely reaches 200,000 to 300,000 miles on the odometer.

Volvo 1800S
One individual car is the king of durability: According to Guinness World Records, the highest-mileage car in the world is a Volvo 1800S from 1966. It reached its 3 millionth mile in September 2013.

Geo Prizm
Prizms were essentially Toyota Corollas built in the United States rather than Japan. Corollas are a durable car to copy, and the reliability carried over, according to Muhlbaum. A Prizm is another car that may need to visit an East Bay auto body shop long before it breaks down mechanically.

Ford Panther–Based Cars
The Ford Panther platform underpins some of America’s most ubiquitous, durable cars, including the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car. Sedans based on the Panther platform became staples of police and taxi fleets, and you can read more about it here on Motor Trend.
