Style, Sport, and MPG. East Bay Auto Body Looks at Top 5 Daily Drivers for 2016

Auto Body Shop Discusses 5 Top New Cars for Bay Area Commuters

2016 is here, and the new models are already on the lot. Here are five of the best cars available this year, as determined by an East Bay auto body shop.

1. Chevrolet Impala

The 2016 Chevrolet Impala offers all of the latest technologies, including wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay, optional wifi hotspot, and more. Equipped with a nearly 196 horsepower 4 cylinder engine the new Impala achieves EPA estimated 31 MPG on the highway and 22 MPG in the city, while the 305 hp V6 manages 29 mpg highway and 18 in the city.

2. Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V is the small SUV to watch in 2016. With its spacious interior, high fuel efficiency and affordable price, it is sure to be popular among buyers, such as young parents who need a vehicle big enough to comfortably hold a car seat (or two) and a sizable grocery load from Trader Joe’s but not much bigger than that. The small SUV market has been hot and the CR-V is positioned to satisfy buyers’ need for versatility and efficiency.

3. Honda Civic

The Honda Civic is available for less than $20,000. It comes with a 2-liter four-cylinder engine and gets up to 41 mpg on the highway. The Civic continues, as it has for many years, to be a go to option for those looking for a low cost, efficient, and reliable daily driver.

4. Kia Optima

The Kia Optima has been completely redesigned for 2016. It offers a four-cylinder engine with high fuel efficiency, and it is available for as little as $21,840 at some outlets. A new 1.6 liter turbo with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission is the newest edition to the available options. The Optima, who’s closest competition is the Ford Fusion 1.5 eco boost, hits 60 mph in 7.3 seconds versus the Fusion coming in at 8.2 while the Optima still outshines the Fusion with a couple extra MPGs both on the highway and in the city.

5. Chevrolet Volt

If you’re in the market for a battery-powered vehicle, any reputable Berkeley Auto Shop will tell you that the Chevrolet Volt is a good deal. The Volt gets up to 43 MPG in the city, and it has a range of 53 miles when running on battery power alone. The Volt has increased in size for 2016, however, despite an increase in interior room, the vehicle weight has dropped by over 300 lbs giving way to improved agility, acceleration, and efficiency over the first generation vehicle.
